Terms of use
The plain-language part first: Brikwall encrypts your files so that only you can open them. That also means nobody, including us, can get them back for you.
1. Agreement
These terms are between you and Adam Davis ("we", "us"), the publisher of the Brikwall app and brikwall.app. By installing or using Brikwall you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the app.
2. Your keys are your responsibility
Your pattern and your 12-word recovery phrase are the only ways into a vault. We never receive or store them and cannot reset, recover or bypass them. If you lose both, the vault's contents are permanently unreadable. Keep your recovery phrase safe and make backups. We aren't responsible for data you can't access because a pattern, phrase or backup was lost.
3. Duress and deletion
Some features permanently erase data by design, including the duress pattern, deleting items, "Clear all" for break-in alerts and deleting a vault. These actions can't be undone on the phone. Use them knowing that.
4. Pro subscriptions and purchases
- Pro is sold through Google Play as weekly, monthly or yearly subscriptions, or a one-time lifetime purchase. Prices are shown in the app and on Google Play before you buy.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the same price until you cancel in Google Play. Cancel at least 24 hours before the end of a period to avoid the next charge.
- A free trial, where offered, turns into a paid subscription unless you cancel before it ends. Each Google account can use a trial once.
- Payments, cancellations and refunds are handled by Google under the Google Play terms and refund policy.
- "Lifetime" means for as long as we offer and support the app.
- If Pro ends, your existing files stay accessible; only Pro features and the higher item limits stop being available for new use.
5. Acceptable use
Use Brikwall lawfully. Don't use it to store or hide content that is illegal where you live, including child sexual abuse material, and don't reverse engineer, modify, resell or redistribute the app except where the law allows it regardless of these terms. Modified copies of the app may lose Pro.
6. Licence
We give you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the app on devices you own or control. We keep all rights in the app, the Brikwall name and this website.
7. No warranty
We work hard to make Brikwall secure and reliable, and we describe its limits openly on the security page. Even so, the app is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and that the app will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that it will resist every attack, particularly on a phone that is rooted, infected with malware or in someone else's control.
8. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for Brikwall in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be waived.
9. Changes and ending
We may update the app and these terms. If we make material changes, we'll update the date above and mention them in release notes. You can stop using Brikwall at any time by uninstalling it, which deletes the data it stored on your phone.
10. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, except where your local consumer law says otherwise.
